8 ways I use ChatGPT as an entrepreneur + my prompts

Updated: Nov 12, 2023

This article was written with the help of Lorraine Shaw, the founder of Springboard.

As an entrepreneur, juggling multiple responsibilities, fighting procrastination, writer’s block, and struggling to complete tasks can feel overwhelming.

Sometimes I even forget to make food and take care of myself. I have been exploring ChatGPT’s possibilities, and here’s my 8 life-saving prompts. And of course, using ChatGPT itself has been way easier since I taught GPT to generate its own prompts.

Remember: the goal as an entrepreneur is to delegate or automate your small annoying tasks so you can focus on your core activity and make more money.

1) Task organization

I stuffed a list of all my tasks into ChatGPT, the daily ones, weekly ones, which monthly payments I have to do, how many times a week I write a blog article, how often I want to post on YouTube, and more. I asked GPT to sort everything into a table-friendly format.

It helped me have a global vision on my task and saved me a lot of time I’d usually spend organizing my tasks.

Prompts:

Hey GPT, I’m an entrepreneur and my goal is to enhance productivity and efficiency in task organization. I have many tasks that I do weekly, daily and monthly, and annual goals. I will include the list of all my tasks. Can you sort them by importance based on (criteria) and also add suggestions on how to reach my goals? Here is the list: (insert your data here), I’d like the output to be in (format)

Hey GPT! Imagine you have a busy day ahead, with multiple online courses to create, blog posts to write, and administrative tasks to handle. What specific keywords or phrases would you use to describe your ideal task organization system? For example, would you prioritize keywords like flexibility, automation, visualization, collaboration, or customization? I’d like the output to be in (format).

2) Fighting procrastination

I don’t know if some of you feel the same, but STARTING a task is what I struggle with. GPT solved that by helping me generate a draft, give me ideas, advice, and more. Now all I have to do is proofread, add my personal touch, other data, and it’s all good to go.

Prompt:

Hey GPT, I am currently working on (task) but I am not sure where to start in order to achieve the best results based on (criteria). I don’t like taking notes on paper or using my phone to increase productivity. Can you share tips on managing distractions and maintaining consistency in work habits and also add specific advice based on the tasks I have to do?

3) Writing emails and replies to my clients

I spend way too much time figuring out what to say and how to say it. Now ChatGPT writes emails for me, generates quotes in table or text format and it saves me so much time. Again, all I have to do is adapt and proofread.

Prompt: In the past, I have used various email writing techniques and templates to communicate with clients. I need to be able to produce emails quickly in order to (task/answer the recipient is expecting). Can you generate a template I can use to (task) and edit it when needed? How can one ensure clarity and professionalism while maintaining a friendly tone? Can you share tips on addressing client concerns or objections effectively in email responses?

Eg: Can you generate a template for an email when I apply to this (title) freelancer job?

Can you generate a template for an email when I need to cancel an appointment? Can you generate a template for an email presenting my services and prices?

4) Finding Inspiration and Overcoming Challenges

Sometimes I know what tasks I have to do, and I know ChatGPT is here to help me. But things can be boring. With the help of ChatGPT, I spice up my daily tasks with new ways to get them done.

Prompt: Hey GPT! I need to get this (task) done, my goals are to do (goals). I’m looking for the best way to get it done quickly but also in a motivating and entertaining way. What would you suggest? What are some effective techniques to overcome creative blocks and self-doubt? How can one tap into their internal sources of inspiration and connect them with their creative work? Can you share tips on maintaining motivation and momentum during challenging times?

5) Writing assistant

ChatGPT serves me as a writing companion, generating prompts, creating blog post ideas, and even assisting in crafting engaging content. I never feel like I have writer’s block when ChatGPT is around. And of course, I use a set of prompts to make ChatGPT generate its own prompts, which helps me daily.

Best prompts:

“I’m (job) and I’m trying to (goal). I need help with (task). My goal is to generate high-quality and engaging content for (platform you post content on). I am seeking guidance on (your goal) In previous content creation attempts, I faced (difficulties/what didn’t work before). For instance, imagine we are creating content for a (your idea). Can you provide creative ideas for blog articles or social media posts related to (your idea). Additionally, are there any specific keywords or phrases that should be incorporated into the content to improve its search engine visibility? Please provide a content piece of (length). Feel free to ask any clarifying questions to better understand the specific requirements”

“I'm setting up a new gig on fiverr, to help people build their YouTube channels. What tags would be good to use to make sure that clients find me? Follow up: in the list your produced, what are the top 5 most important ones?

Follow up: Can you craft a Fiverr service description? The service is meant to help people build their YouTube channels.”

6) Course content development

As an online instructor, my main revenue is my courses. Optimizing their creation and marketing is a good way to save time and generate more income. Here’s what ChatGPT helps me to do:

  • Create course outlines based on a subject and target audience, and sort lectures by difficulty.

  • Create course descriptions, target audience, requirements, pre-requisites, outcomes of the course, create assignments, quizzes, and more.

  • Help me decide which course to do next and analyze the market

Best prompts:

“I want to teach an online course about making a webinar from A to Z. It will include how a webinar is structured, how to build a sales funnel, preparing before and after the webinar, connecting with your audience and more. Can you generate a list of 25 lecture titles that make sense for this course project?”

“I’m Emilie and I teach French online. I’m working on a French advanced course and I need to make sure more students sign up. I only promote my course on social media (in coupon groups). I need a better strategy to make sure my course sells more. Can you establish a step by step plan to help me? Let me know if you have questions”

7) Meal preparation and grocery list suggestions

I have a ton of allergies, and sometimes it’s not easy to find joy while cooking or eating, because I often eat the same things. ChatGPT helps me suggest meal plans for the week based on my allergies and then generates a grocery list. I make GPT sort that list by food that expires first, and it helps me buy the right things at the right time.

Best prompts:

“Meal preparation and grocery shopping can be time-consuming. I struggle to organize my meals. I like eating (food examples) but I don’t like (food) and I’m allergic to (food). Could you suggest meals I could do with around (amount of time you can dedicate to cooking every week/day).

Follow up prompt:

Can you create a shopping list based on (criteria -shelf life, longest recipes first, cheapest, organized by spice level, etc-)?

8) Personalized recommendations:

I hate spending an hour deciding what I’ll watch on Netflix, especially when I worked hard that day to make sure I had free time for Netflix. I ask ChatGPT to recommend me YouTube channels, Netflix shows or movies, books to read and more ideas to entertain myself. All I need to do is tell GPT about my hobbies, interests and what I want to learn about, I can even say “I like this specific show, can you recommend me a similar one?”. I also use ChatGPT to recommend music styles and it saves me time when I create playlists.

Prompt:

Hey GPT, I have (amount of minutes) free right now. I am done watching (series name) and I’m looking for something similar, or another recommendation. Do you maybe know a documentary, YouTube channel, or podcast I could consume?
